Global Privacy Control (GPC) explained

What GPC is, when it applies, and how theConsent handles it.

What is GPC?

Global Privacy Control is a browser signal indicating the user wants to opt out of data sales/sharing. It's recognized under CCPA / CPRA (California), Colorado, and Connecticut.

How theConsent handles it

When a visitor has GPC enabled in their browser:

  • theConsent auto-rejects all non-necessary categories
  • The banner does not display (no user action required)
  • The "Reopen" pill still appears so they can change their mind

Disable

You can disable GPC respect in Banner Builder → Behaviour. We recommend leaving it on for CCPA compliance.
